Matt Correll is a grain grower from near Arthurton on the Yorke Peninsula, SA!
Matt loves the innovation that comes with modern farming techniques and believes the Ag industry plays an unmistakably important role, not only here in Australia but on a global scale, in stabilising and maintaining the world’s food supply.
Matt knows he can always rely on his passionate mates in the grain industry for a conversation around the latest in farming innovation and technology, and believes it’s important to learn from others in the industry in order to grow.
Matt grew up in the farming community and works hard on his family’s farm during holidays and at harvest. The family farm is approximately 3,500 hectares and is used solely for the cropping of lentils, wheat, barley and canola.
What is one thing that you are continually striving towards at a grain grower?
Matt says that for him, “The big goal is to increase yields whist lowering the input required to achieve these high yields.” This is the exciting part for Matt, as he says that, “There is a lot being done to achieve this [goal of higher yields] so grain growers are continuously learning and experimenting with different methods.”
What is one thing you love about your job or lifestyle in grain?
Ben acknowledges the importance of innovation and development in the Ag industry, stating that “I probably most enjoy the impact and importance that the grain industry has on both Australia and the world, because the food supply is a very important industry that has to be sustained and increased.”
What do you value most about having mates in the grain industry?
“It’s always good to talk about and learn from others in the grain industry because there is so much new technology and processes involved in agriculture now.”
