Graeme Hendy is a fourth generation grain grower from Numurkah, Victoria.
Graeme loves the freedom that comes with growing grain, a vocation he throws himself into wholeheartedly.
More than a lifestyle choice, Graeme works hard all year round cropping, sowing and harvesting to achieve the greatest yield he can. The family farm is spread across 2,800 acres and is used solely for the cropping of wheat, canola, faba beans and in some years, barley.
What is one thing that you are continually striving towards as a grain grower?
Graeme says that for him, “The main thing is getting better yield, growing the best crops you can grow.”
What is one thing you love about your job or lifestyle in grain?
“If I had to choose only one thing it’d be the growing side of things,” Graeme says. “Making things grow and doing it better.”
What do you value most about having mates in the grain industry?
“The comradeship is probably the main thing because you’re in amongst people who share not only common interests but also a common goal.”
